Singer Kaylee

Rock n' Roll! It is back to work today after a 3 day weekend but I am stopping in real quick to bring you the newest digital image releasing today at Some Odd Girl!

Singer Kaylee! And she is rockin' it! Here is my creation:
I love the way this card turned out. I wanted to give it that All-American Rock n' Roll feel. It is hard to tell from the picture but Kaylee's hair is blue.

I hope that everyone enjoyed their weekend. Remembering and honoring all of our nation's finest.
Only a few more days of school until summer vacation is on! I got my pass to the waterpark and I am ready to chill. Well, that is until summer school starts.

Oh, and don't forget...Some Odd Girl and Ruby Rock-it are Blog Hopping together. Click here to hop, awe over the inspiration,  and possibly win some cool prizes.

Then, stop over at Some Odd Girl. Kristy is having a Memorial Day Sale. Awesome!

Happy Tuesday, my friends.

OWH&Art Impressions

It is Memorial Day Weekend and Art Impressions has partnered with Operation Write Home for this week's challenge.
The challenge for this week is to create cards that can be sent and used for Operation Write Home. And if you are not familiar with OWH you really are missing out! Operation Write Home is how I got started in card making. A few summers ago, I was looking for a hobby to participate in and still serve in some capacity in giving back. That is when I came across OWH.

Initially, I started with rubber stamping images and coloring with colored pencils. Gradually, I moved into Copic markers. It took awhile to hone my alcohol blending skills. Oh heck!  Who am I kidding? I am still trying to master coloring. But I love OWH and I love Art Impression stamps. So, you combine the both and it is a "win-win"!!

Operation Write Home does have some specific requirements including: Using A2 size cards with envelopes, no glitter, and no handwritten sentiments.  Large embellishments do not work well either. I think that this is why I am such a Clean and Simple card maker!

You can check out the guidelines by clicking here. The other cool thing is that you can request an Operation Write Home rubber stamp to designate your cards as such. So, I always stamp the back of my cards.

Here are my creations I created this weekend. I had to use both these images because they just arrived in the mail on Friday!
This is Fire Out!

One last thing...if you donate cards to OWH, there is a calendar to follow. For example, Christmas cards such as the one above should be donated by October 31st. You can check out the Themes and Deadlines calendar here.

Another Wonderful Wednesday!

Wonderful Wednesday at Kraftin' Kimmie's is always Anything Goes. So, this week I followed Krafty Girl Deborah's beach scene tutorial and I thought I would give it a try. You can access her tutorial by clicking here.
Here is my final product:
I used the rubber stamp Sunnie. And of course my BG11 Copic marker ran out of ink so I had to use another color. I used BG90 in place of BG11. The white foam didn't go so well for me. I guess it is okay for the first time, eh?
The sentiment is one of the two that corresponds with this set. It reads: Life's a beach!
I chalked in the clouds using a dauber. This scene makes me want to go to the beach. Almost. If I liked the beach. But I don't! I'll just take one of those coconut drinks!
Thanks for stopping by!

#Off the Edge

Addicted to CAS ~Challenge #38 is Off the Edge.  This is the first time I am entering this card challenge forum so I am excited to start playing along.

This is my CAS Off the Edge creation:
I used the digital stamp from Some Odd Girl titled Woodsy Mae colored  in using Copic markers.
The Off the Edge includes the striped design paper.
The sentiment is a new wood mounted rubber stamp I purchased from Hobby Lobby. It reads: #makesmesmile  I love hashtags. I like to speak in hashtag!

I had to add a few enamel dots because I smeared ink on the front. #oops That is what I get for having a messy desk. #itsallgood

I am so ready for bed. Only 14 days till the start of summer vacation. I am so ready for later summer nights and lazy mornings!

Sassy Cheryl's

A new challenge over at Sassy Cheryl's! Yay for Tuesdays...AND...Sunshine!
The challenge is to use 2 die cuts and a shade of purple!
Here is my creation using You are My Sunshine!
The circles and scalloped tag are my two die cuts and the shade of purple is this cutie's shirt. and her socks  Although it doesn't look like a bright purple it is purple!
The sentiment comes from a clear stamp set. It reads: FRIEND.

The design paper is American Crafts Cut & Paste by Amy Tangerine. This paper pad is filled with great designs.

I am in official count down to summer, folks! A little less than 2 weeks I will be sending my first class of graduating seniors out to the Big World!

Flower Power

A new challenge at Tiddly Inks...FLOWER POWER! And for this challenge I colored up the newly released digital image Wryn-Sunny Day.

Here is my creation:
This card is embellished with some wonderful flowers, bees, and dragonflies from K&Company. I colored Wryn using Copic markers and turned her into a removable magnet! The yellow polk-dot is a library card pocket from Fancy Pants.
I really love the way this card came together. I would love to keep it for myself,  but my daughter already claimed it for her teacher.

I took a personal day from work today with plans to take my 16 year old out to take his written driver's test. And we showed up and saw this:

Yep! No tests are given on Thursday! All I can say...it figures!

Head in the Clouds

Tiddly Inks new challenge is Head in the Clouds. Warm sunshine and puffy white clouds....ahhhhh!
And I almost forgot to blog this card creation I created using Eggcellent News.
Here is my creation:

Colored in using Copic markers and some cloud design paper I created this card for a solider's mother to offer her words of encouragement as her son is deployed, but should be coming home soon!

I just adore Wryn, don't you?!

Picture Perfect!

I am new to Art Impressions stamps but I just absolutely adore them! They are a lot of fun to color up and every time I look at the images and read the sentiments they make me chuckle!

I won this Ai rubber stamp in the first challenge I joined. It is called Picture Perfect! It is a new stamp from their popular Girlfriends line.
Here is my creation:
I colored in the image using Copic markers and the design paper comes from American Crafts Perfect Vacation.
The Ai Picture Perfect Stamp set comes with three corresponding sentiments that are hilarious. I used the one that reads: Say...Cheesecake! That is exactly what my friends would do!

You can relate to this image, right!? I am going to enter this card into the Sister Act Card Challenge. The challenge this week is Anything Goes. And 613 Avenue Create which is also Anything Goes!
Happy Saturday, my friends.

One More

Art Impressions newest challenge Cute as a Button is too fun! And since you are permitted to enter the challenge two times, I thought I'd create one more just because I can!

Here is my creation using the clear stamp set called Camper:
The sentiment reads: Still young at heart...slightly older everywhere else
I send out a lot of cards for specific requests for the Soliders' Angels organization. A majority of those requests are birthday and encouragement but lately I have seen quite a few retirements, too! This set is perfect for a retirement card!
The paper comes from Studio Calico Wanderlust collection. The image is stamped using Memento ink pad and colored with my beloved Copics.
Here is the inside:
Ok. It is Mother's Day so I am off to take a nap! What?! I have 5 kids! That should be allowed, right?!?!

Buttons

When I was a little girl, my grandma had this metal coffee container filled with hundreds of buttons. I remember sitting on the floor and playing with the buttons for hours!

This week's current Ai Challenge is Cute as a Button

My grandma never had cats but this Cat Lady sure did remind me of her.

Here is my button creation:
I used the corresponding stamp sentiment that reads: you're perfect!
Colored in with Copic markers and then fussy cut out. Cat Lady is adhered with pop-it dots. The buttons come from my stash. The paper is from American Crafts Cut & Paste Amy Tangerine

One Layer~Sassy Cheryl's

Happy Tuesday! And I am back with a brand new challenge at Sassy Cheryl's...one layer.
For this challenge, I colored up one of the newer Sassy images called: Nimble Musicians of the Air.
Here is my creation:

The sentiment comes from a clear stamp set and reads: smile. Those lady bugs and cute little bird have me wanting for summer so badly. I am counting the days until the start of summer vacation. Too soon? Nah, I think not.

Click here to check out the other Sassy Ladies and their one layered creations.
Don't forget to link your creation, too!
Have a great day!

Bubbles Mermaid

A new digi release at Some Odd Girl and it is a bee-aa-uu-tiful mermaid.
Here is my creation using this wonderful underwater creature:
This is the first time I have ever created a shaker card. It seems lately, I have been seeing shaker creations popping up and so I decided to give it a whirl!

At first, I think I may have added too much glitter. What can I say? I love my glitter!

And then the glitter was statically charged to the plastic. Overall, I think it turned it out ok for my first go round.
Lots of great stuff happening over in Facebook land. There is a monthly Linky party, a color combo challenge, and a new clear stamp release that just dropped yesterday! Ohhhhhh, yeah!!!! Fun! Fun! Fun! Come join us!

Perfection.

So...this weekend I colored and created and hit up all three craft stores. And...I made this creation using the Mo Manning image called:  Perfection.
Now, don't laugh but I really can not bake to save my life! It is just one of those things I never wanted to learn.
I did however bake up some enamel dots today to add to this creation. This idea came from a post on Facebook and since I looooovvvveeee me some enamel dots I decide to make some.
I purchased this pack of pearl pony beads from Wal-Mart for $1.97, placed the beads on parchment paper and baked them at 300 degrees in my little toaster oven. It took over an hour for the beads to melt down...but look at the pretty dots! Waa-laa!

I am linking this card in the Bella and Bronte's Clubhouse May photos folder. It is a great place to hangout out, find inspiration, and meet other people with the same passion as you.
Head on over and join us.

Art Impressions Challenge

This is my very first time participating in the Art Impressions (Ai) current challenge #134~Anything Goes Masculine.

I am so excited that my local Michael's Arts & Crafts Store had 4 of these clear stamp sets for sale. Of course, I purchased them all! I have been wanting to get my hands on these for a while now.

Here is my creation using this clear stamp set:
So adorably cute! And.....this looks oddly enough just like my dad!
Well, he doesn't wear overalls. I am afraid mom wouldn't let him do that!

The sentiment corresponds with the stamp set and I used the one that reads: Howdy-Hoe!
I chalked in the background clouds and decorated the inside of the card, too!
I am pretty sure Dad will get a kick out of this one!
Happy Friday, my friends!
