Mid-Week Throwdown

It's Wednesday and that means it is Operation Write Home's Mid-Week Throwdown! Yay! I have had so much fun playing along since the start of summer!
This mid-week's challenge is to use dies and punches
It just so happens that I purchased this QuicKutz Heart Doily cutting die from Lifestyle Crafts yesterday!
Here is my creation:
It is a great looking punch but after I ran it through my Cuttlebug none of the little "chads" punched out! I had to sit and individually poke each one! What a mess! Ha!
I colored up this darling image from Saturated Canary called Owl I'll Always Love You
The sentiment reads:baby, owl always love you...
I colored up this Saturated Canary image with Copic markers:
Skin-E000,00,11
Hair-E53,55,57
Outfit-RV93,95,E31,33,C1,3,5,R35
The paper is from Recollections and I embossed the background paper, too.
And...if I wasn't making this card to donate to OWH...I would be glittering it all up!
There it is, my OWH Mid-Week Throwdown!
Have a great Wednesday, my friends!

Creative Creations Challenges~#15

Summer is flying by so quickly and I am working through my to-be-colored pile everyday! I think this has been one of the most enjoyable summers I have had in a while. I sit and color and catch up on my favorite TV shows! Ahhhh, it's the easy life right now.
Anyways, I colored up Maxine the Florist from Saturated Canary yesterday.
Here she is:

Maxine was a great image to color! It only took me two episodes of NCIS to finish her! Ha!
I colored her using Copic markers in the following colors:
Skin-E000,00,11
Hair-E43,44 (look at all the hair!)
Outfit-E31,33, BG72,75,78, Y35,38
Other-BV23,R05,C3
I have been trying to make my cards as simple as can be lately. I send most of my cards to soliders who are currently serving and even the littlest of brads keep poking through the envelopes.
That is washi tape and little white heart brads. The sentiment is a simple: hello.
I am going to enter Miz Maxine here in the Creative Creations Challenge
We are off to play Bingo today! Have a great one, my friends!

Sassy Cheryl's~DT

Gosh! It's Tuesday! Time for a new challenge at Sassy Cheryl's! I am loving these challenges BUT...this one was a true challenge for me.This week's theme is Vintage Creams & White. So of course, I Googled to find out how to color vintage using Copic markers. I found a combination of using the Ws and then E40 over the entire project.
Needless to say, my E40 has gone missing. How does a marker go missing?? Good question.
So...in place of E40, I used E43 which made it darker than I wanted. Here is my Vintage Creams and White DT card:

This is the adorable Sassy Cheryl's image that is part of a set called Avery is Thankful.
The flowers are from Recollections and I used Stickles on the cupcake icing. I may have went a little crazy with the pearl gems but I wanted to make sure I added white, too!
You must click here to check out the other Sassy Gals DT creations! They are all so beautiful. I am in awe.
Have a great Tuesday, my friends!

It's Thursday! A new challenge is over at A.R.T.  It is Anything Goes! Why is it my favorite kind of challenge? Well...because anything goes!!! For this challenge, I colored up the clear stamp set from Some Odd Girl called Royal.  Here is my creation:
I started coloring this image two weeks ago and then I stopped because I didn't know what color I wanted to make her gown. Finally, after some Mojo Monday inspiration over at SOG World, I decided to use orange.
The paper is from My Mind's Eye and the flowers are from Spare Parts.
The sentiment reads: You deserve the royal treatment
There it is...my Anything Goes submission for A.R.T. #7. You can check out the wonderful DT work by clicking here.

Best Friends 4 Ever

What is life without a best friend? You know, the one you can whisper secrets to and know that they will be kept. The one who texts you randomly throughout the day just because they were thinking of you. The one who loves you just because you're you
I have been fortunate to have some of the bestest friends in my life!
Here is a picture of me and my besties~Kimmy and Emily.  We met in college at Penn State University. Today, all three of us are Special Education Teachers. We made it through undergrad and graduate school, each others' showers and weddings, babies...including my infamous false alarm labor! Cars being towed because someone didn't pay their parking ticket! Football games. Spaghetti dinners.
Friends.
Always.
No matter what.
                    {me,Kimmy,Emily}
This pic was taken about 2 years ago.
People come into your life. People go out of your life. But your best friends are never far from your mind.
Sassy Cheryl's  newest challenge is Best Friends...#176.
Here is my DT creation:
I used the digi image Better Than a Thousand Words. One of the other great things about a best friend is sometimes you don't have to say anything at all. This image shows just that. Unconditional acceptance.
I colored this image using Copic markers using the following colors:
Skin-E000,00,11
Hair-E50,53
Other-R05,C3
Bella-E11,13,15
The sentiment reads: Friends4Ever
The flowers are from Recollections and I made the banner using washi tape and some hemp twine.
I think polka dots are my favorite!
So, what are you waiting for...go text your best friend. Tell them how much they mean to you and then go check out the other Sassettes DT creations by clicking here
Happy Tuesday, my friends!

Do You Believe in Unicorns?

Well, do you? Believe in unicorns? Operation Write Home's Sketch #182 looks like this:

And...yes, as soon as I looked at the sketch I thought...washi tape!
Here is my take using the pudgiest unicorn I ever did see. Not that I've actually seen one. In real life. Ever.
This unicorn comes from the Kraftin' Kimmie rubber stamp set called Three Wishes
This card is pretty clean and simple. The unicorn was colored in with Copics.
C1,3,V12,15, Y23,26
The washi tape comes from Recollections. It was so wide, I only used 4 pieces as the sketch has 5. I added a few silver stars to make the unicorn magical. The inside of the card asks:

There it is. My pudgy little unicorn card and this Sunday's OWH Sketch.
I am off to a birthday party. It's a girls birthday party. Maybe I'll see an unicorn or two.
Have a great Sunday, my friends!

Anything Goes~Kraftin' Kimmie

A new challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie is Anything Goes.
For this challenge, I decided to color up Myriam from Switzerland .  I don't know much about Switzerland. But I like Swiss Roll Cakes...I wonder if they originated from Switzerland?
Myriam is one of the five rubber stamps I received in my goodie package from Kraftin' Kimmie.  I won the goodies for placing in The Top 10 and I am so excited! I will be a Krafty Guest Designer for the month of August! I wish I knew how to say, "Yay!" in Switzerish...(I totally just made that word up!)
Anyways, here is Myriam:
I colored dear Mryiam in using Copic markers.
Skin-E000,00,22
Hair-E13,15,18
Dress-C1,3,5,7,R05
The sentiment accompanies the stamp. It reads: Let's take a holiday.

The paper comes from a 12x12 pad from Recollections. I'd like to tell you what it's called but the front cover is gone!
Here is the inside:
The sentiment on the inside is from a wood mounted rubber stamp from Stampabilities. It reads: just because...
I added a few red flowers that are also from Recollections.
I am entering this card into the Kraftin'Kimmie Anything Goes Challenge.
There is a new release happening for the month of July! Great new stamp sets! You can check it out by clicking here.
Later, my friends!

Music to my Heart

Ever experience that moment when a song reminds you of someone? Out of the blue you hear a song on the radio and it automatically transports you back in time and you can remember every detail.
I had a friend that use to text me a song of the day. I couldn't wait for my new song choice to arrive. More often then not, they would be songs from artists that I would normally never listen to.
I have every one of those songs neatly tucked into a playlist.
My friend no longer sends me songs. That makes me sad. I miss my friend. Somethings are never meant to be. Another time... Another place...Different circumstances...one will never know.  And...sometimes,  I glance at my phone and hope a new song will come through. Just for ole' times sake.
Music Girl Mae  from Some Odd Girl reminds me of my friend.
Mae is just sitting there rockin' to her iPod. I wonder if her friend texted her that song? I'd like to think so.
Have a great Friday, my friends!

For this challenge, I colored up a Kraftin' Kimmie rubber stamp set designed by Cheryl Alger titled Happy Campers.
This set is adorable! It comes with 3 images!
Here is my creation:
Isn't she the cutest? Look at her in the tent all prettied up with a window and flowers! The stamp set also comes with 5 sentiments. I used the one that reads: Enjoy the great outdoors!

I added some washi tape and peach colored brads; chalked in some grounding and there is my DT card for the newest Sassy Cheryl's Outside Fun and Games challenge. You can click here to check out the amazing DT cards! Those Sassettes are so talented! Really, they are!
Then, link up your outdoor fun creation.

I hope you are all enjoying your summer! I hate to say it but it is H-O-T! It's not even the dog-days of summer, yet! So, if you need me...I'll be in my crafty corner with air conditioning!!!
